Panasonic and Sony working on Next Generation 300 GB discs for data storage & 4K movies

Topmost companies,Sony and Panasonic working on same task. They have announced that they are working on next-generation, high capacity optical discs format. If we talk about blu-ray discs ,which has stored highest capacity of data up to 50GB. But, now this time Sony and Panasonic working on 300GB data storage disc. Companies sure about peculiar product that it will lead in market by the end of 2015.

Sony and Panasonic made a statement in joint press release
Optical discs have excellent properties to protect them against the environment, such as dust-resistance and water-resistance and can also with stand changes in temperature and humidity when stored. They also allow inter-generational compatibility between different formats, ensuring that data can continue to be read even as formats evolve. This makes them a robust medium for long-term storage of content.
According to market-data, we know that demand for software discs decline gradually,Whereas companies said about peculiar product that it runs in the market very fast because this device specially will designed for professional use, specifically long-term digital data storage. Both companies knows, in future much larger volumes of storage will need for cloud storage as well as motion picture industries.

Both companies have previously developed products based on Blu-ray format, leveraging the strength of optical discs. However, both Sony and Panasonic recognized that optical discs will need to accommodate much larger volumes of storage in years to come given the expected future growth in the archive market and responded by formulating this agreement.

It’s easy to understand Why Sony wants to support the evolution, with 4K content being critically important to its 4K products since these discs can make data storage of 300GB and will capable to storing the 4K movies. Panasonic earlier  launch a smart TV with ultra HD 4k resolution, so it is understandable why Panasonic join the project.
