Facebook email service was started in 2010 by mark zuckerberg. Most of the people use this service for business purpose. After all facebook decided that email service will be stopped. When anyone user create personal account on facebook, facebook gave email account with "@facebook.com" domain.

According to Facebook's employee

Most of the people was not use facebook email service so we decided that email service will stop.

Now the "@ facebook.com" email sent will be sent to the email account from which the user had signed up on Facebook. The email service was launched in November 2010 and it was introduced as a way for the user in the same inbox, Facebook messages, be able to come SMS and traditional email.  Criticized in July 2012 when it replaced their Facebook profile on the user's email address "@ facebook.com" email addresses were placed.
